Malappuram District Co Operative Bank Ltd. 4329, (MDC Bank) is a refinancing bank for its member societies. MDC Bank owes its existence to its member societies who are its shareholders. The MDC Bank, in fact, reaches the rural mass through the dense network of its member societies. The member societies are mainly Credit (Primary Agricultural Credit Societies commonly referred to as Service Co operative Banks) and Non-Credit, depending upon the kind of activities which they undertake.
MDC Bank, as per the directions of the Registrar of Co operative Societies accepts the deposits at rates prescribed by Government from time to time.
The societies which are in need of finance, to cater to the demand of their members, are helped by the MDC Bank either through refinance or from Own Funds. The rate at which the member societies are advanced loans is also prescribed by the government.
Assistance to PACS:
PACS Development Cell (PDC):
The holistic development of weak societies is being undertaken by MDC bank with the help of PACS Development Cell (PDC) which is a project financed by the NABARD. The activities of PDC are controlled by a Deputy General Manager and the day-to-day activities are being managed and services made available through two resource persons viz. Mr. Jinesh (9746268955) and Mr. Amal Shan TM (9847152712). Their service is available for the PACS which have been selected based on a SWOT analysis done on prospective PACS. PDC has undertaken numerous initiatives and programmes like training, study tours, etc. to various places and institutions as part of the efforts to impart holistic development of the PACS.
Revival Scheme for Weak Member Societies:
The MDC Bank has been undertaking measures to revive weak member societies. Based on an exhaustive study and on a case-to-case basis, the MDC Bank provides financial, advisory services and even competent manpower for such members.
